About the Role
As our Design Engineer (Electrical), you'll play a key role in delivering practical and effective engineering solutions that support the ongoing reliability, safety and performance of our operations. Working across a diverse range of factory projects, you'll contribute to the design, development and improvement of electrical systems and infrastructure that keep our sites running efficiently.

Role Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism in all engineering and design activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, ethically, sustainably, and in accordance with recognised engineering practices.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence by promoting competent practice, sound technical decision-making, continuous improvement, and quality outcomes across all projects and activities.
- Ensure external engineering consultants and design partners operate in alignment with Wilmar’s standards, expectations, and professional obligations.
- Support the delivery of commercially effective engineering solutions that balance operational requirements, safety, environmental sustainability, and long-term business value.
- Maintain awareness of emerging industry trends, technologies, standards, and regulatory requirements through active participation in professional networks and organisations such as Engineers Australia.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across engineering, operations, and project teams to improve engineering capability and drive best-practice outcomes throughout the business.
About You
You are a collaborative engineering professional with strong communication and problem-solving skills, capable of working effectively across multidisciplinary teams. You have a sound understanding of Australian Standards, relevant legislation and industry best practices, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality engineering outcomes.
Highly organised and self-motivated, you can manage competing priorities, work independently, and deliver projects on time while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, engineering principles and relevant statutory requirements.
- Ability to develop and review engineering designs, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in engineering design software and related technical systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Commitment to professional engineering standards, ethical practice and workplace safety.
Desirable
- Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or progress towards obtaining RPEQ certification.
- More than two years' experience in an engineering design role, preferably within a heavy industrial, manufacturing or processing environment.
