The Harm Reduction Project Officer position is responsible for the development and support of the Needle &Syringe Program (NSP) and other initiatives to prevent and reduce transmissible infections and other drug-related harms among people who inject drugs in the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).
The position is District-wide with primary locations at the Sutherland Hospital and Kings Cross. This position will involve the establishment of new NSP outlets; design and delivery of training packages; supporting new and existing NSP outlets including secondary NSPs auspiced by KRC; and involvement in relevant health promotion and community development activities.
This position also supports the strategic development of initiatives at KRC/KRC South aimed at identifying hard-to-reach populations at risk of acquiring HIV and hepatitis C (HCV) and developing appropriate outreach models in various settings to ensure early diagnosis and assessment of BBVs and maximise uptake of treatment in such populations. This position also supports KRC's Naloxone Program and has a role in the direct delivery of NSP and outreach services at KRC/KRC South.
KRC is one of the SESLHD Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, and this position may collaborate with those services as required.
