About the team
The Coordinator Operations leads a diverse and multidisciplinary team responsible for the delivery of drainage, pavement, and civil maintenance works. The role oversees four direct reports and a broader operational workforce, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and delivery of services.
Direct reports include:
- Special Project Engineer
- Drainage Works Supervisor
- Concrete Works Supervisor
- Asphalt Supervisor
The broader team structure also includes:
- Drainage Lead – Reactive and Drainage Lead – Proactive, each supported by drainage crews
- RMP Asset Inspector, AMP Asset Inspector, and Technical Liaison officer responsible for asset condition monitoring and reporting
- Asphalt Supervisor, managing asphalt and pavement-related works
This structure brings together engineering, supervision, technical coordination, and field crews to support both reactive and planned maintenance programs. The Coordinator Operations plays a key leadership role in aligning team performance with service standards, safety, and operational efficiency.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator – Operations to lead the delivery of road and civil infrastructure programs across the City of Glen Eira. You will oversee the planning and delivery of road, drainage, footpath and car park works, ensuring compliance, safety and service excellence.
The role is responsible for managing contracts, budgets, and operational performance while working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. This is a strong opportunity to make a meaningful impact on Council’s infrastructure and community outcomes.
Other responsibilities include:
- Coordinating maintenance and renewal programs including:
- Road maintenance and resurfacing
- Footpath maintenance, renewal, and grinding
- Drainage operations and minor improvements
- Managing infrastructure maintenance contracts and ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
- Developing and implementing proactive and reactive maintenance programs for roads, footpaths, drainage, car parks, and activity centers.
- Supervising reinstatement works and recovering costs associated with damages by utilities and developers.
About you
You are a highly skilled and motivated civil engineering professional with a strong track record in delivering infrastructure maintenance and renewal programs. With both technical expertise and leadership capability, you bring a proactive and solution focused approach to managing complex operational challenges and delivering quality outcomes for the community.
You have a strong focus on risk management, occupational health and safety, and are committed to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure, and contributing to the goals and strategic direction of Glen Eira.
The following is also required:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with RPEng registration
- Extensive experience in infrastructure maintenance, renewal, and contract management
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and supervise technical staff
