AKD are seeking an experienced and driven individual to join our team in the position of Green Mill Manager at our Caboolture operation, reporting to the Production Manager. This position will lead the Caboolture Sawmill team, focused on creating a zero-harm safety culture, driving a high performing team and executing on performance expectations. This position would suit a motivated individual that has experience in managing people and driving performance outcomes, and who is ambitious, and career orientated.
This position will drive the safe and efficient management and operations of the Green Mill, and Saw Shop, by creating and supporting a fun and engaging work environment, that empowers individuals to develop and succeed in their roles, whilst also holding a high standard of self and team accountability. With cutting edge technology in our green mill operations, this position is perfect for someone with a passion for innovation, process and continuous improvement.
We believe the position will best suit someone with a Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Management (or similar) or someone with strong experience in production or people management. Exposure to the timber or manufacturing industries will be valuable but not necessary. This position will be responsible for managing a team of about 60 people across day, afternoon and night shifts. This role has the support of shift supervisors and team leaders as part of their operational team.
Reporting to the Production Manager; the position will be part of AKD Caboolture’s Site Operational team and contribute to the overall AKD strategy. The successful candidate must be willing to challenge and enhance existing processes and systems and be a team orientated person with strong communication and influencing skills who is self-motivated, and solutions driven.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Managing and driving performance of our Caboolture sawmill
- Leading and developing a strong team to achieve performance while maintaining our Zero Harm culture
- Continually improve housekeeping standards across the process
- Influence stakeholders to achieve business outcomes
- Support and assist with the effective implementation of the AKD Strategy
- Drive continual improvement and instil it into the culture
- Analyse performance trends and take early actions
- Continually develop an engaged workforce that feel rewarded for effort
- Develop the people around you and establish a succession plan
