About Abstract Supports
Abstract Supports is a trusted provider of disability support services, helping people live independently and achieve their personal goals. We believe in flexible, person-centred care and value the individuality of every person we support. Our team takes an inclusive and respectful approach, ensuring that each individual receives tailored care that meets their needs.
We are looking for casual support workers, both entry-level and experienced, to join our growing team across Sydney, with a focus on Western Sydney, Penrith, Blacktown, Hawkesbury, and the Lower Blue Mountains.
Why Work With Us?
We value lived experiences and transferable skills and recognise the strengths that different backgrounds bring to the role. We offer good pay with penalty rates and provide weekly pay to ensure financial stability. Our casual positions offer flexible hours, allowing you to choose shifts that suit your lifestyle. With clients located across Sydney, you can work close to home.
We encourage career growth and development, offering training and opportunities for progression within the sector. You will be supported by a dedicated and compassionate team, ensuring that you have the tools and knowledge needed to provide high-quality support.
About the Role
As a support worker, you will assist people of various ages who have different disabilities, impairments, and support needs. This may include supporting people with daily living tasks, personal care such as showering, dressing, and grooming, meal preparation, and household duties. You may also provide assistance with community participation, including transport to appointments, social outings, and shopping.
Some people require assistance with medication and high-care needs, including catheter care, diabetes management, epilepsy management, seizure response, PEG feeding, hoisting and manual handling, bowel care, and tracheostomy care. Experience in these areas is highly regarded but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
We also have opportunities for those interested in providing peer worker supports and psychosocial support, where lived experience of disability or mental health recovery can be used to positively connect with and empower others.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome applications from both new and experienced support workers. We strongly value diversity and encourage people with lived experience of disability, mental health challenges, or caring responsibilities to apply. The right candidate will be compassionate, patient, and committed to person-centred support.
Reliability and professionalism are essential, as well as the ability to be flexible and adaptable when supporting people with different needs. Strong communication skills are important to build trust and provide meaningful support.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have or be willing to obtain:
- A Working With Children Check
- A National Police Check completed within the last six months
- A First Aid and CPR certificate
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
- Completion of mandatory online NDIS training modules. A certificate of completion will be required prior to starting.
Highly Regarded Skills and Experience
While not essential, a Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or Mental Health is highly regarded. Experience in aged care, mental health, disability support, or peer work is beneficial. Skills in complex care, including catheter care, diabetes management, epilepsy support, PEG feeding, and hoisting and manual handling, will be an advantage.
How to Apply
To apply, submit your resume and a short cover letter explaining why you are interested in the role and how your skills align with the position.
