About the Role:
The Environmental Services Team Leader is responsible for leading and supporting the Environmental Services team to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position is on a permanent full-time basis.
The role oversees daily operations, coordinates staff activities, monitors cleaning standards, and ensures compliance with infection prevention protocols, workplace health and safety requirements, and hospital policies.
The Team Leader promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of environmental cleanliness that contribute to positive patient outcomes and experiences.
Key responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to Environmental Services staff.

Coordinate daily work assignments and staffing to meet operational requirements.

Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback.

Assist with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees

Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture

Ensure all patient rooms, clinical areas, public spaces, and non-clinical areas are cleaned and maintained to hospital standards.

Conduct routine inspections and quality audits of cleaning service

Monitor workflow and adjust staffing priorities to meet service demands.

Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures.

Monitor adherence to cleaning protocols for isolation rooms and high-risk clinical areas.

Promote best practices in hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental cleaning.

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and legislative requirements.

Ensure staff follow safe work procedures and correct manual handling techniques.

Monitor appropriate use of chemicals, equipment, and PPE

Liaise effectively with nursing staff, clinical departments, maintenance, infection prevention personnel, and other hospital teams.

Communicate shift priorities and operational updates to team members.
