The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) Specialist Palliative Care Service is a community-based service led by a specialist medical, nursing, and allied health team. The service provides comprehensive end of life and specialist palliative care support to patients across the district in the community with in-reach consultation to MLHD hospitals and residential aged care facilities. About the Opportunity
The Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Palliative Care Stream Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across our Specialist Palliative Care Service.
In this senior leadership role you will lead a coordinated, district-wide palliative care program, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams across community, hospital, and residential aged care settings, driving clinical excellence, service innovation, and workforce capability.
This is a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen palliative care services across MLHD, improving access, integration, and outcomes for patients with advanced and life-limiting illness, as well as their families and carers.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and experience aligned with Nurse Manager Grade 3 (Appendix 1, Core Knowledge and Skills, Public Health System Nurses’ and Midwives’ State Award 2015 / 2018)
- Senior leadership and management experience, with qualifications in health management, health policy and planning, business, or equivalent (or working towards)
- High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise, negotiate, and manage conflict with clinicians, managers, staff, and key stakeholders.
- Advanced computer skills, including experience with health workforce, performance, and analytics systems.
- Proven financial and service management experience, including driving efficiency and achieving organisational goals.
- Show advanced leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and manage staff to achieve service and organisational goals using recognised change management principles.
- Understanding of accreditation processes, quality improvement, and safety initiatives.
- Experience managing complex services with competing demands for access, throughput, and resources.
Evidence of a current Class C Driver licence and willingness to travel across MLHD.
