Primary objective
Provide advice, coordinate and manage relocation and travel information and processes in a timely manner to support Northern
Territory Government employees.
Context statement
School Operations provides operational advice and services to government schools, tailored to their needs and focused on
supporting their improvement agenda. School Operations ensures the implementation of NT and Commonwealth Government
policies and department strategic priorities in NT Government schools. The position works within a small collaborative team often
in a high pressure environment. Priorities can change quickly requiring all team members to have a high level of adaptability and
resilience.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice, options and support to department staff on travel and relocation matters, always demonstrating professionalism
and cultural awareness and operating within the boundaries of agreed policies and procedures.
2. Schedule and organise relocations, liaising with all parties concerned to ensure that the relocation occurs with minimal
disruption, working within specific guidelines that require knowledge and understanding of operations, policies and procedures.
3. Manage the various integrated administrative functions and liaise with the Department of Corporate and Digital Development
(DCDD) Human Resources recruitment team, government school principals, Directors and Senior Directors to ensure new
recruits and transferees are relocated within required timeframes.
4. Process, acquit and record expenditure using government systems including NTGPay, Expense8, LTF Wizard, the department’s
approved travel booking system and Territory Record Manager (TRM).
5. Contribute to the delivery of the team’s core business services and undertake projects to support continuous improvement of
school operations and the department as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in coordinating official staff travel including the facilitation of approvals, bookings and payments or
the demonstrated skills and ability to acquire and apply this knowledge very quickly.
2. Familiarity of processes involved with the coordination of uplift of personal effects including household items, vehicles as well
as storage through selected provider or the demonstrated skills and ability to acquire and apply this knowledge very quickly.
3. Proven high-level organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, attend to detail, exercise initiative, be responsive
to shifting priorities, complete tasks within required timeframes and work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
4. Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the proven ability to be discreet and maintain
confidentiality.
5. Proficiency in office procedures and systems including relevant experience in word processing, databases, spreadsheets and
computer systems.
