Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks, and applying primers as required
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, sealants, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
- Carry out interior and exterior painting works for residential and commercial projects
- Interpret job specifications, colour requirements, and client instructions to achieve desired finishes
- Select, prepare, and mix paints to obtain required colours and textures
- Ensure all painting works are completed to a high standard with strong attention to detail
- Apply decorative finishes and protective coatings according to project requirements
- Inspect completed work and identify areas requiring touch-ups or corrections
- Maintain painting tools, equipment, and materials in a safe and organised manner
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures, including safe handling of materials and equipment
- Work efficiently to meet project timelines and quality expectations
- Coordinate effectively with supervisors, clients, and other tradespeople on-site
- Identify and resolve surface preparation and coating issues during projects
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience working as a Painter
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, finishes, and surface preparation methods
- Experience working on residential and/or commercial painting projects
- Ability to use painting tools, equipment, and spray systems effectively
- Ability to interpret job instructions, specifications, and project requirements
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to delivering quality finishes
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices
- Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and physically capable of performing manual duties
