- Livestock monitoring — inspecting cattle, identifying health or welfare issues, and reporting concerns to supervisors.
- Feeding and watering — preparing feed, distributing rations, maintaining water systems, and following approved feeding programs.
- Birthing and young‑stock care — assisting with calving, caring for newborn calves, and supporting rearing activities.
- Pasture and fodder work — assisting with the establishment, maintenance, and management of pastures and fodder crops.
- Herding and livestock movement — moving cattle for feeding, treatments, drafting, weighing, milking and other farm operations.
- Milking operations — preparing udders, operating and sterilising milking equipment, and maintaining dairy shed hygiene.
- Animal husbandry — calf marking, vaccinations, hoof care, parasite control and other routine husbandry tasks.
- Farm infrastructure maintenance — repairing fences, cleaning livestock housing, maintaining sheds, yards and general farm facilities.
- Machinery and irrigation operation — operating and maintaining tractors, pumps, water systems and irrigation equipment.
- Farm technology use — using data collection tools, herd management systems, and farm technology equipment.
- Feed and equipment preparation — assembling, preparing, and storing feed, bedding, and livestock-handling equipment.
