The Step Up Step Down (SUSD) service in Kalgoorlie is a community-based residential service that provides short-term support for people experiencing mental health challenges. Delivered in partnership with Neami National, the service offers a safe, recovery-focused environment where consumers can build skills, strengthen wellbeing, and transition successfully back into the community.
About the Role
In this role, you will provide alcohol and other drug assessment, counselling, education, case management and recovery-focused support to consumers accessing the service. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support individuals to identify and achieve their goals through evidence-based interventions, therapeutic engagement and coordinated care planning.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, person-centred, strengths-based counselling and support to people with complex needs and co-occurring AOD and mental health concerns.

Conduct alcohol and other drug assessments and implement evidence-based interventions.

Participate in multidisciplinary goal planning and review meetings.

Support consumers to develop, implement and achieve their recovery goals.

Monitor and evaluate consumer progress and recovery outcomes.

Provide AOD education and support to consumers, families, carers and stakeholders.

Facilitate individual and group education and therapeutic sessions.

Advocate for consumers and coordinate referrals to appropriate services.

Support consumers transitioning from the SUSD service back into the community.

Maintain accurate client records, case notes and reporting requirements.

Participate in supervision, reflective practice, case reviews and professional development activities.

Build and maintain effective relationships with community stakeholders, health providers and partner organisations.

What's on Offer
SCHADS Award Level 4 salary ($44.58ph) plus superannuation.
$5,500.00 regional allowance per annum pro rata.
Part-time position based in Kalgoorlie (4 days per week)
Working days - Mon, Thurs, Fri, Sat (Week 1), Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri (Week 2).

You'll Need
Essential

Tertiary qualification in health, education, behavioural or social sciences, youth work, health/mental health nursing, or an approved equivalent qualification with relevant experience.

Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of people experiencing co-occurring alcohol and other drug, physical health and mental health challenges.

Ability and willingness to travel to deliver outreach services, including occasional overnight stays.
