The Contract Management Lead is a senior commercial leadership role within the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), responsible for driving excellence in contract and contractor management across a diverse portfolio of projects and programs.
This role leads the development, governance and continuous improvement of contract management frameworks, ensuring consistent practices, strong commercial outcomes, effective risk mitigation, and robust contract administration throughout the contract lifecycle. The position also provides expert commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Contract Strategy & Commercial Management

Drive strong commercial outcomes through effective contract administration, negotiation, claims, and variation management.

Maintain standard contract specifications, terms, and conditions.

Provide commercial and contractual advice across the contract lifecycle.

Support contract establishment and procurement strategies.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
-
Lead the development and continuous improvement of contract and contractor management frameworks.

Ensure compliance with governance requirements, policies, and industry best practice.

Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Project Lifecycle Framework.
Contract Administration & Risk Management

Coordinate contract kick-off activities and stakeholder alignment.

Oversee contract administration, including variations, contingencies, provisional sums, and performance monitoring.

Maintain contract registers and proactively manage portfolio risks.

Coach and support delivery teams on contract management and risk mitigation practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Performance

Build effective relationships with key internal stakeholders to support contract and contractor management outcomes.

Analyse contractor performance and identify opportunities to improve commercial performance and governance.

Promote collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across project delivery teams.
Essential
-
Degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Construction, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline.

Formal qualification in Contract Management.

Current Class C Driver Licence.

General Construction Induction (White Card).
Desirable
-
Postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Commercial Management, Business, or a related field.

Professional Contract Management certification (e.g. World Commerce & Contracting).
Skills & Experience
-
Minimum 10 years' experience in contract management, contract administration, or commercial management within the Construction, Energy, Electrical, Utilities, or related infrastructure sectors.

Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial contracts, including GC21 and amended forms of contract.

Proven ability to deliver commercial value, reduce contractual risk, and improve contractor performance outcomes.
