Develop your HR career in a large, complex national business
Join Pacific National – Australia’s largest private rail freight operator
Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We haul coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep Australia moving.
Due to an internal promotion within our P&C team, an opportunity has presented itself for a People & Culture Coordinator to join our team in North Sydney. Build your HR career while gaining exposure to a highly unionised, enterprise agreement-rich and operationally complex workforce.
What You’ll Do
Support the delivery and continuous improvement of People & Culture services across a large and dynamic national business.
Reporting to the People Services Manager, you will:
-
Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding and HR administration
-
Respond to employee and leader queries, providing timely and service‑focused support
-
Maintain HR data and support HRIS updates and improvements
-
Execute key processes in line with established policies and procedures
-
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and system enhancement projects
-
Support process governance and broader P&C programs across the business
-
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver efficient, people‑centred outcomes
-
Gain exposure to multiple different enterprise agreements and industrial tools, deepening your understanding of workplace relations in a national business environment
What You’ll Bring
-
Experience in administration, coordination, HR support, shared services, or a similar role.
-
A genuine interest in building a career in People & Culture and developing your expertise across a broad range of HR activities.
-
Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
-
A proactive approach, strong personal accountability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
-
An interest in systems, technology, and continuous improvement
-
Tertiary education in HR or a related discipline (or progress toward one) would be highly regarded, however, it is not essential.
This opportunity would suit someone early in their HR career, or a professional looking to broaden their experience within a large, operationally complex organisation and gain exposure to a diverse workforce.
