Leading Teachers at Staughton College are members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) whose role is to develop, implement and review the school strategic plan and subsequent Annual Implementation Plans whilst leading and being part of highly effective teams. A key role for all leadership members is in instructional leadership where individuals and the team proactively work to support all teachers to continually improve their individual and collective practice.
The Director of Community Connection & Student Leadership is responsible for leading and enhancing the school¿s community engagement efforts. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong connections between the school, families, and the broader community. The position involves coordinating community programs, supporting cultural and community initiatives, and fostering an inclusive school culture. The fostering of strong community relationships works to improve student wellbeing and academic outcomes, foster a sense of belonging and enhance the learning experience for students, teachers and families. These connections build powerful partnerships that leverage community resources, increase parental involvement, promote shared responsibility, and cultivate a supportive network for everyone within the school.
Additionally, this role will also focus on fostering school pride aligned with the schools shared values and cultivate this through shared purpose and traditions. Celebration of student and school achievements as well as the active promotion of school culture and events will also build upon a strong sense of belonging and engagement. This role will also involve the leadership, coordination and further development of our school-wide student leadership practice and structures at the college, providing opportunities for genuine student voice and agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading Community Engagement
- Lead the development and implementation of the school's strategic approach to create strong community connections.
- Responsible for developing, leading and executing engaging programs, projects and events that support the School¿s diverse stakeholder group.
- Lead community events, programs, and partnerships that enhance the school¿s connection with local communities and families
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organisations, cultural groups, and external stakeholders.
- Promote and support initiatives that celebrate diversity and inclusion within the school community.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report on community engagement activities, including participation rates and feedback from stakeholders to inform decision making and improvement.
Leading Program
- Oversee the planning and execution of community programs, including cultural celebrations, parent engagement activities, and outreach initiatives.
- Manage community-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with staff to integrate community engagement activities into the school curriculum and daily operations.
- Coordinate and lead the whole school house system process that aims to foster belonging, pride, teamwork and connectedness.
- Providing opportunities and a structured model that promotes school-wide,student leadership practice through a student leadership program. The program will actively develop leadership skills in all students, and works with a variety of community stakeholders to provide opportunities for students to practise these skills.
Leading Community
- Serve as the primary point of contact for community-related inquiries and communications.
- Advocate for the needs and interests of the school community within the broader educational landscape.
- Develop communication strategies to keep the community informed and engaged with school activities and initiatives.
Leading Staff
- Work closely with staff to ensure community engagement efforts are aligned with the school¿s goals and priorities.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in their interactions with families and community groups.
- Leading the broader team to source, gather and create content for publications such as the School newsletter, School magazine, digital stories and social media posts - celebrating student and school success
- Oversee the programs and staff in the following areas; Sports Program Leader, Performing Arts Program Coordinator and the Instrumental Music Coordinator.
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

EXPECTED HOURS OF DUTY
The hours of work for Leading Teachers will be in accordance with the Teaching Award. There is an expectation that Leading Teachers will attend meetings and public events scheduled after school and in the evening on occasions throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
All applicants are required to be fully qualified teachers and therefore meet all qualification requirements of the Victorian Institute of Teachers (VIT). The successful candidate MUST provide certified copies of all qualifications and/or academic transcripts.

- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
