Yield Café is a busy and growing café in Revesby, known for our modern brunch menu, quality ingredients and high-volume service. We are looking for an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team, manage the day-to-day kitchen operations and help drive the future direction of our food offering.
A major part of this role will be creating and developing new menus that suit the Yield brand, our customer base and current food trends.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, train and manage the kitchen team
- Oversee daily kitchen operations and service
- Create and develop seasonal menus, new dishes and weekly specials
- Develop recipes, plating standards and preparation procedures
- Ensure new menu items are commercially viable and suitable for a high-volume café
- Cost all menu items and manage food margins
- Maintain consistency across food quality, portioning and presentation
- Manage ordering, stock control and wastage
- Create efficient kitchen systems and workflows
- Manage kitchen rosters within the allocated labour budget
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards are followed
- Work closely with the owners and management team
- Maintain a positive, respectful and productive kitchen environment
About You
- Previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy café or restaurant
- Strong experience creating and launching menus
- A creative approach to modern Australian brunch and café-style food
- Able to balance creativity with food costs, speed of service and customer demand
- Confident developing recipes, costing dishes and training staff on new menu items
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Strong understanding of food costs, stock control and labour management
- Able to remain calm and organised during high-volume service
- Reliable, hands-on and committed to maintaining high standards
- Knowledge of NSW food safety requirements
- Available to work weekends and early mornings
