Your impact
The world's appetite for digital infrastructure has never been greater.
Artificial intelligence, cloud computing and hyperscale technology are transforming how we live and work, creating unprecedented demand for resilient, sustainable and high-performing data centres. Behind every successful facility is an engineering team solving increasingly complex challenges in thermal management, energy efficiency, operational resilience and speed to market.
At Jacobs, we're helping define what's next.
Our Advanced Facilities business partners with many of the world's leading hyperscale technology companies, developers and operators to deliver mission-critical infrastructure that enables the digital economy.
As our Data Centre business continues to grow across Australia and New Zealand, we're looking for an exceptional Principal Mechanical Engineer to help shape the next generation of high-performance facilities.
This is far more than a senior engineering role.
It is an opportunity to influence the future direction of Jacobs' Data Centre business, work alongside recognised global technical leaders, strengthen trusted client relationships and help deliver some of the most technically advanced projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
If you're motivated by solving complex engineering challenges, enjoy leading talented multidisciplinary teams and want to leave a lasting impact on one of the world's fastest-growing industries, we'd love to hear from you.
As Principal – Mechanical (Data Centres), you'll provide technical, commercial and strategic leadership across Jacobs' Advanced Facilities portfolio throughout Australia and New Zealand.
You'll work closely with clients, project teams and our global technical network to develop innovative mechanical engineering solutions that deliver exceptional outcomes while strengthening Jacobs' position as a trusted advisor in the Data Centre market.
This is a highly influential role where your impact extends well beyond project delivery.
You'll help shape client relationships, grow our market presence, mentor future leaders, contribute to industry thought leadership and influence how mission-critical facilities are designed for the future.
Success will be measured not only by the projects you deliver, but by the capability you build, the people you develop and the confidence clients place in Jacobs.
What You'll Do
Lead complex mechanical design
Provide technical leadership across major hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical facility projects throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Here's what you'll need
Extensive experience delivering complex mechanical engineering projects within Data Centres, Mission Critical Facilities, Advanced Facilities or similarly demanding environments.
Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on major engineering projects.
Strong understanding of mission-critical mechanical systems and infrastructure.
Experience working directly with hyperscale clients, developers or major infrastructure owners.
