The role
We are seeking experienced and reliable Tow Truck Drivers to join our team. This role involves the safe recovery, loading, transportation, and unloading of vehicles, while maintaining a high standard of customer service in often time-sensitive and high-pressure situations.
You will be responsible for operating towing equipment, assessing recovery requirements, and ensuring vehicles are transported securely and without damage. The role also involves liaising with customers, insurers, and workshop operators, and maintaining accurate records of each job.
Flexibility is essential, as the position involves working across a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, public holidays, and on-call shifts.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Operate a tow truck to recover and transport vehicles in a safe and efficient manner
- Assess each job site to determine appropriate recovery methods and equipment
- Secure vehicles correctly for transport to prevent damage during loading, transit, and unloading
- Respond to roadside assistance requests, including breakdowns and accident recovery
- Provide professional and courteous customer service in all interactions
- Complete job documentation accurately, including condition reports and delivery confirmations
- Conduct routine vehicle and equipment checks to ensure operational safety and compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the tow truck and associated equipment
- Adhere to all relevant road safety laws, workplace safety requirements, and company procedures
- Coordinate with dispatch and other team members to ensure timely service delivery
Required qualifications, experience and skills
- Valid driver’s licence appropriate for operating a tow truck
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated ability to operate towing equipment safely and competently
- Strong understanding of road safety practices and vehicle handling
- Ability to manage high-pressure situations with sound judgement and professionalism
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
