About the role
The Specialist Advisor Target Qualifications – Learner Engagement plays a key role in designing, coordinating, and delivering social and emotional engagement activities for learners enrolled in Target Qualifications. The role has a particular focus on supporting learners experiencing intersectional disadvantage, including those participating in the Student Success Program (SSP).
This position leads proactive and embedded learner engagement through early intervention and case coordination. Working collaboratively with education delivery teams, Student Support Services, and external agencies, the Specialist Advisor addresses barriers that impact learner engagement, progression, and retention.
In close partnership with the Specialist Advisor – Target Qualifications Teaching and Learning, as well as pathways and community engagement teams (including place-based outreach), the role ensures alignment between pre-enrolment engagement and in-program support. It also maintains a clear distinction between outreach and recruitment activities and in-course learner support.

As the Specialist Advisor Target Qualifications – Learner Engagement, you bring a strong understanding of social and emotional wellbeing, trauma-informed practice, and early intervention frameworks. You have extensive experience working in wellbeing, youth services, education, or community-based support roles.
You have demonstrated experience supporting learners experiencing complex or intersectional disadvantage, including coordinating wraparound supports and managing referrals across multiple services. You are confident working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure learners receive holistic and timely support.
You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and effectively with diverse learner cohorts. You are committed to equity, inclusion, and learner-centred practice.
In addition, you have the capability to collect, analyse, and communicate wellbeing-related data to inform learner outcomes, service improvement, and organisational accountability.
