Primary objective
Contribute to the Department of Trade Business and Asian Relations in delivering the Territory Growth Initiative. This initiative drives
economic development by supporting significant private sector projects and high-growth businesses. The team provides strategic advice,
manages key stakeholder relationships, conducts financial due diligence, and administers programs that offer financial support, including
the Collaborative Investment Program, Territory Infrastructure Loans, and the Paspalis Co-Investment Fund.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist with the management of the Local Jobs Fund to facilitate growth of significant and regionally important private sector
projects.
2. Assist with promoting the Fund to the target market, including business and project proponents and their partners, marketing
materials and content, and explain the fund’s application requirements.
3. Support the management of the pipeline of enquiries, assist with prioritising inquiries, and managing expectations of applicants.
4. Help with assessing applications to access support from the Fund, identify and analyse critical success and risk factors, and
translating this analysis to recommendations that support from the Territory Growth Initiative should be extended or declined.
5. Manage the compliance processes of the Fund and monitor ongoing compliance with existing and future loans.
6. Monitor the loan portfolio of the Fund, and prepare quarterly financial monitoring updates, briefings and agenda papers as required.
7. Assist in the preparation and delivery of briefings and reports addressing financial and commercial aspects of the Fund’s operation.
8. Assist with maintaining strong working relationships and collaborative partnerships with a range of government and external.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Strong experience working in commercial credit/banking environment, and ability to develop familiarity with how transactions are
structured.
2. Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and research skills with the ability to identify and articulate options to move forward, both
verbally and in succinct written briefings.
3. Strong demonstrated understanding of business drivers and ability to identify critical success and risk factors affecting outcomes.
4. Strong demonstrated ability to critically analyse all forms of financial statements, interrogate financial models and scenario analysis.
5. Strong demonstrated targeting and communication skills, and demonstrated ability to engage with a range of stakeholders to identify
potential deals that deliver on the TGI’s objectives.
6. Demonstrated experience developing strong, clear and concise written products including preparing and delivering high level
briefings and reports which translate complex technical information succinctly and clearly to support decision makers in their
consideration of available investment options.
7. Strong demonstrated policy development and strategic thinking skills, and ability to navigate through complex policy situations.
8. Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes, a high level of initiative and motivation.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
2. Experience in commercial banking, lending, and/or business and investment analysis.
3. An understanding of portfolio management principles.
4. Current knowledge and understanding of relevant national and Northern Territory Government policies and processes.
