Primary objective
To be part of the Orthopaedic team providing a timely and high quality Orthopaedic service to the population of over
250,000 and visitors to the Top End.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide care and advice on the management of Orthopaedic patients, including elective and emergency theatre cases,
admission and discharge of patients under the supervision of the Orthopaedic Specialists and Fellow.
2. Participate in the twenty-four hour on-call roster as required to ensure the proper functioning of the service.
3. Participate in research, educational and professional development.
4. Participate in quality assurance activities, peer review practices and continuing Medical Education.
5. Participate in audit, risk management activities and research.
6. Assist outreach services to Katherine and Gove.
7. Participate in other activities related to the Orthopaedic service within the Royal Darwin Hospital as directed by the Head
of Orthopaedics.
8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
2. Have experience and training in Orthopaedics.
3. Demonstrated commitment to high quality patient care.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
5. Demonstrated capability and interest in research.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
7. Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration.
