About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Part-Time Cook/Chef to join our kitchen team.
This position offers approximately 20 hours per week, with evening shifts from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm, five days per week with flexible roster. Additional hours may be available during busy periods, functions, and public holidays.
You will be responsible for preparing high-quality Indian dishes while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Prepare and cook tandoori items including naan breads, kebabs, and marinated meats using a traditional tandoor.
- Assist with food preparation and mise en place before service.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and portion control.
- Follow HACCP food safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised kitchen.
- Monitor stock rotation, minimise food waste, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality.
- Assist with cleaning and closing duties at the end of each shift.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a Cook or Chef in an Indian restaurant.
- Sound knowledge of authentic Indian cooking techniques and spices.
- Experience operating a tandoor oven.
- Good understanding of HACCP principles and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and within a team.
- Full Australian working rights.
Desirable
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with stock control and ordering.
