Primary objective
Manage the development and delivery of projects through strategic coordination, advice, analysis for continuous school and
system improvement.
Context statement
The Strategic Projects branch is responsible for ensuring programs and projects of work are aligned to agency, Northern
Territory Government and Australian Government strategic priorities. Strategic Projects promote and maintain agency
program management standards, ensuring consistent delivery of and reporting on the strategic program by business areas.
The division work closely with business areas, One NTG partners, consultants and business analysts to deliver outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support the management of complex strategic projects including initiatives arising from Cabinet, ensure their alignment
to outcomes through evaluation practices, and provide progress reporting as required.
2. Coordinate, research and prepare high level briefs, submissions, reports and correspondence to enable to Minister, Chief
Executive and Deputy Chief Executive to carry out their functions effectively.
3. Liaise effectively and professionally with internal staff at all levels within the department, as well as external stakeholders,
ensuring appropriate information access, management and use.
4. Manage information collation, analysis and reporting to ensure, accurate, and reliable program and performance activity
information.
5. Provide secretariat support across the division as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in project management, monitoring and analysis including high-level ability to investigate,
manage and report on complex issues, evaluate associated benefits, and recommend strategies.
2. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities through effective planning, coordination, and time management,
with a strong focus on accurate data handling and adaptive problem-solving in dynamic environments.
3. Provide strategic secretariat support to departmental governance groups by facilitating effective decision-making
processes and offering expert guidance on project management, administrative and governance processes.
4. Strong written communication, reporting, interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience in the preparation of strategic
advice and support, briefings, reports and other correspondence detailed reports and correspondence.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently to a high standard, problem solve and to provide effective leadership within
a small team to lead and manage a variety of strategic tasks in a complex environment and meet deadlines within time
constraints.
6. Demonstrated ability to confidently build and maintain effective networks, undertake consultation and liaison with a
range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Bachelor level or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
2. Contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge and understanding of government and departmental processes including preparing high level reports,
discussion papers and correspondence including Ministerial and executive briefings.
