Help shape a healthier, safer and more sustainable community through meaningful frontline environmental health work. This is a varied role where no two days look the same – from food safety and public health to investigations, education and community wellbeing. This is a 12 months fixed-term, parental leave cover position.
- Conduct inspections of food businesses, public health risk activities and events
- Assess planning, building and plumbing applications under relevant legislation
- Investigate environmental and public health complaints including noise, odour, wastewater and food safety matters
- Provide practical advice and education to residents, businesses and stakeholders
- Prepare reports, correspondence and regulatory documentation
- Support community health initiatives, immunisation clinics and health promotion activities
- Bachelor of Health Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification
- Experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation, regulations and codes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to educate and engage a wide range of people
- Sound investigation, research and problem-solving capability
- Current Tasmanian drivers licence and eligibility for a Working with Vulnerable People registration
- National police check certificate (dated within 6 months) and candidate must provide prior to commencement
- Base salary between $92,004.56 and $102,268.53 (depending on skills and experience) + 13% superannuation (+ a 5.1% base salary increase in July!)
