Volunteer Opportunity: Playgroup Assistant – VRCC Little Stars Playgroup
Location: Vines Road Community Centre, 37-61 Vines Road, Hamlyn Heights
When: Mondays during school terms, 10:00am – 12:30pm
Do you enjoy spending time with young children and supporting local families in a fun, welcoming environment? VRCC Little Stars Playgroup is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Volunteer Playgroup Assistant to help out during our weekly sessions!
About the Role:
As a Volunteer Playgroup Assistant, you’ll work alongside and support our Playgroup Facilitator to help create a safe, engaging, and playful environment for children (ages 0–5) and their caregivers. Your presence and support will make a meaningful impact in our community.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting the Playgroup Facilitator with setting up and packing away toys and activities
- Welcoming families as they arrive and helping them feel comfortable
- Engaging with children through play, stories, and creative activities
- Helping maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive environment for all attendees
- Join in songs, read a story to the group when required
- Covering for Facilitator in times of absence
We’re Looking for Someone Who Is:
- Friendly, patient, and reliable
- Enjoys working with young children and their families
- Comfortable taking direction and working as part of a team
- Available Monday mornings during school terms
Requirements:
- Working with Children Check
- Police Check
- (We can assist you with the application process for both if needed.)
Prior experience is valued in this important role, would support someone training or trained in Childcare or Kindergarten / Primary Education. Full training and support will be provided by the Playgroup Facilitator.
