About the Role
Summary:
As a Production Horticulturist, you will report to the directors and be responsible for supervising workers and planting, growing, and harvesting activities.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure that all land preparations are done as per Sunripe procedures.
- Train and monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are done as per standard procedures
- Lead by example, providing leadership and guidance to workers
- Supervise and prepare work routines and day-to-day production operations
- Assess quality of work and take corrective actions where applicable
- Ensure that all material inputs are adequate for respective operations
- Undertaking minor maintenance of farming equipment and machinery
- Assist with general farm work when required.
- Liaise with Farm Operation Manager and Directors where required
- Oversee and operate the irrigation system.
- Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds, and diseases
- Operate spreading and seeding equipment.
- Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs
- Coordinate horticultural crop harvesting

To be considered for this role, you will have.
- Three years employment experience as a Production Horticulturalists with relevant formal training (a qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate III or Certificate IV) or 5 years employment experience with no formal qualification.
- Attention to detail
- Proactive and self-motivated
- Queensland Open Driver Licence.
- Ability to demonstrate proper use of equipment.
- Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of WHS and ability to apply knowledge.
- Contribute to developing safe work procedures
- Identify and report any hazards or incidents
