We’re on the lookout for a Graphic Designer – Childrenswear to join our creative design team , someone who lives for playful prints, bold ideas and storytelling through design.
This role is critical to delivering the department’s graphic product across multiple childrenswear categories . You’ll continue a strong legacy of providing dedicated creative support—ensuring graphics are developed to the highest standard, aligned with customer, brand and commercial goals, and delivered on time. Your work will help maintain consistency, quality and momentum across every range.
What will you do?
You’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Design, Trend and key stakeholders to create fun, commercial and trend-led graphics that kids love and families trust.
Creative & Trend Direction
Identify, interpret and translate global trends into exciting, wearable kidswear graphics
Develop and present seasonal trend directions with clear storytelling and supporting research
Maintain a strong aesthetic and eye for commercial, high-volume opportunities
Design & Product Development
Create placement and yardage prints aligned to Kmart’s unique handwriting
Design graphics that are innovative, playful and commercially viable
Apply strong knowledge of product, fabrics and print techniques
Ensure all artwork meets IP and copyright standards with accurate documentation
Ranging & Delivery
Design across multiple categories to create cohesive, coordinated ranges
Respond to briefs with high-quality, on-brand concepts that drive sales
Manage multiple deadlines and deliver artwork in line with critical path timelines
Support offshore teams to ensure seamless execution and consistency
Collaboration & Influence
Partner with Buyers, Planners and Design teams to bring concepts to life
Present ideas confidently and contribute to trend and design direction
Support and uplift team capability, including mentoring junior designers
Maintain and manage the print library for accessibility and efficiency
What are we looking for?
We’re searching for a creative thinker with a commercial mindset and a love for designing for kids.
Experience & Skills
5+ years’ experience in apparel graphic design (kidswear highly regarded)
A degree in Graphic Design, Textile Design, Fashion or similar
Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
Proven ability to create commercial, customer-focused designs that sell
Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment
Strengths & Capabilities
Strong understanding of customer needs and market trends
Ability to interpret trends commercially and translate into product
High attention to detail with strong print execution knowledge
Confidence working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders
Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
Clear communicator with strong presentation skills
