About the Role
Lead one of Australia’s premier Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Units at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Our Specialised 12-bed Cardiothoracic ICU is recognised for delivering exceptional care to patients underdoing some of the most complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures in New South Wales. As a major tertiary and statewide referral centre, our service manages patients requiring advance therapies including veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO), Impella, mechanical circulatory support and complex post-operative cardiothoracic care.
Working alongside internationally recognised cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivist and highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will lead a unit committed to innovation, research, education and clinical excellence.
As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide operational and strategic leadership, foster a positive and highly-performing team culture, drive quality improvement initiatives and support the professional development of nursing staff while ensuring outstanding patient and family-centred care.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Is an inspiring and visible clinical leader who empowers high-performing teams.
- Has proven leadership experience within a tertiary or quaternary critical care environment
- Demonstrates expertise in workforce management, rostering and safe models of care.
- Drives quality improvement, patient safety and innovation.
- Builds collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
- Holds current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a Registered Nurse
- Holds, or is working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification
- Has experience in cardiothoracic and/or Intensive Care Nursing (highly desirable).
