Job Purpose
This role plays a pivotal part in shaping, pitching, and executing cross‑category retail marketing programs for BBC Studios brands in ANZ, with a strong focus on Bluey and other priority franchises. As a Senior Commercial Executive, you will take ownership of retail strategy execution and key partner management to help grow BBC Studios’ commercial footprint and revenue across the region.
Working closely with the Head of Commercial, you will support the development and delivery of high‑impact retail programs, top‑tier brand partnerships, and best‑in‑class marketing activations. You’ll collaborate with major ANZ retailers and global partners, contributing to strategic plans while ensuring seamless execution.
We’re seeking a proactive, commercially minded operator who brings curiosity, initiative, and confidence to a fast‑paced environment. You’ll be trusted to run projects, influence stakeholders, and identify new opportunities for growth. This role is ideal for someone ready to step up, broaden their remit, and play a key role in driving the commercial success of BBC Studios brands in ANZ.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Commercial & Partner Management
Manage and nurture relationships with key retail buyers, licensing partners, and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact.
Support the Head of Commercial in developing retailer‑specific strategies, category plans, and commercial pitches.
Lead the preparation and enhancement of brand and pitch decks for retail presentations, ensuring high‑quality storytelling and strategic alignment.
Pitch programs to retail partners to secure brand placement and open to buy.
Retail Marketing & Campaign Execution
Oversee the rollout of retail marketing programs, including briefing, coordinating, and tracking campaign assets and approvals in collaboration with the brands and marketing team.
Take ownership of campaign timelines, ensuring deliverables are met and stakeholders are aligned.
Support major product launches, category expansions, and priority retail initiatives, contributing insights and recommendations.
Market Insights & Reporting
Working with the commercial coordinator, conduct regular retail store checks and produce detailed retail and competitor trend reports to inform commercial strategy.
Deliver clear, timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including sales updates, post‑campaign analysis, and market insights.
Identify emerging opportunities and risks across categories, retailers, and consumer trends.
Activation & Event Management
Working with the commercial coordinator, oversee on‑the‑ground retail activations, including costume character appearances and experiential events.
Represent BBC Studios at trade shows, industry events, and partner meetings, contributing to relationship building and brand visibility.
Operational & Administrative Excellence
Oversee administrative processes executed by Commercial Coordinator, including contract coordination, NDAs, meeting minutes, retail planning calendars, POs, invoicing, and internal reporting.
Ensure smooth cross‑functional collaboration with global teams, agencies, and partners across multiple time zones.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
3–5 years’ experience in sales, retail, marketing, account management, brand management, licensing, consumer products, or media.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders and delivering projects or campaigns end‑to‑end.
Experience working with major retailers, licensing partners, or consumer brands highly regarded.
Proven ability to work autonomously while contributing to broader team and business objectives.
High proficiency in PowerPoint with the ability to craft compelling, visually strong commercial presentations; Adobe Photoshop experience advantageous.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to prioritise, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Creative thinker with the confidence to propose bold ideas and innovative retail solutions.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, and maintain strong relationships.
Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and solutions‑focused, with strong problem‑solving skills.
Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Experience coordinating small‑scale events, activations, or retail experiences.
Ability to draft critical paths, reports, and meeting documentation with clarity and accuracy.
Comfortable working with global teams and flexible across time zones when required.
