As part of our organisational redesign and commitment to strong governance and community participation, this role provides a unique opportunity to support Advisory Committees that connect Council with diverse community voices and perspectives.
About the role
This role is central to the successful operation of Council's Advisory Committees. Working closely with community members, committee chairs and internal stakeholders, you'll coordinate committee activities, provide expert governance and secretariat support, and help ensure committee recommendations and discussions contribute effectively to Council's decision-making processes.
You'll also play an important role in improving governance frameworks, supporting member participation and enhancing the overall experience for committee members and stakeholders.
You will:

Deliver high-quality governance and secretariat support that enables Advisory Committees to operate effectively, efficiently and in accordance with governance requirements.

Coordinate committee meetings, agendas, minutes and action tracking to ensure decisions, commitments and outcomes are accurately documented and progressed.

Build strong relationships with committee members, community representatives and internal stakeholders, providing trusted advice and responsive support.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen committee processes, resources, templates and governance practices.

Support recruitment, onboarding and engagement activities that foster inclusive participation and positive member experiences across Council's Advisory Committees.
About you
You are an organised, highly professional individual who thrives in environments requiring discretion, sound judgement and attention to detail. You enjoy working with diverse stakeholders and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes that support effective decision-making and community engagement.

Experience providing committee secretariat, governance or administrative support within a complex organisation.

Strong minute-taking, agenda management and document coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and provide professional support to a diverse range of stakeholders.

Experience working with sensitive, confidential or politically exposed matters while exercising sound judgement and discretion.

Excellent written communication skills and the ability to develop clear, accurate and accessible documentation, reports and correspondence.
