As General Counsel, you’ll be a key strategic partner to the business – leading the legal function, strengthening governance, and enabling growth while managing risk in a complex, highly regulated environment.
This is a critical role requiring strong commercial judgement and the ability to influence at the highest levels.
In this role, you will:
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive team on legal, regulatory, commercial and reputational matters
- Set and lead the enterprise legal strategy, aligned to business priorities and risk appetite
- Support major strategic initiatives, including M&A, partnerships and transformation programs
- Oversee corporate affairs and communications, ensuring clear and consistent messaging
- Lead crisis management and issues response for high-profile matters
- Provide guidance on media engagement while minimising legal, financial and reputational risk
- Establish and embed regulatory, risk and compliance frameworks (including ACMA, ASIC and industry obligations)
- Oversee complex commercial contracts and negotiations to drive strong business outcomes
We’re seeking a highly accomplished legal leader with strong commercial acumen and the confidence to operate at the most senior levels of the organisation.
You’ll bring:
- Proven experience advising public companies, Boards and executive teams in complex, highly regulated environments
- A strong legal foundation, ideally from a top-tier corporate law firm across governance, compliance and risk
- The ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for senior stakeholders
- Experience leading legal strategy through M&A, transformation or significant regulatory change
- Strong commercial judgement, balancing risk with opportunity to support growth
- Experience managing sensitive media issues and high-profile stakeholder relationships
- Knowledge of data privacy, intellectual property and media regulation (or similar sectors)
- A track record of building and leading high-performing teams
This is a rare opportunity to shape the legal strategy of a forward-thinking media organisation at a pivotal moment of transformation, in a visible, high-impact leadership role.
