Position Summary
The Field Service Manager – Chillers is a high-impact leadership role within Vertiv's ANZ division, responsible for managing the end-to-end commissioning lifecycle of Vertiv's range of large Industrial Chiller units across mission-critical facilities including Tier 1 Data Centres and industrial sites.
This role blends technical mastery with project coordination and customer relationship management. You'll drive commissioning excellence, developing and executing test scripts, overseeing quality assurance, and ensuring every project is delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standard. You'll be the trusted point of contact between Vertiv's internal teams and our most important customers, shaping how we deliver critical infrastructure solutions.
This is not a people-management role , it's a hands-on technical leadership position where your expertise, professionalism, and ability to coordinate complex commissioning programs will directly influence Vertiv's reputation and growth in the ANZ market.

Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Management & Delivery
- Own the commissioning process from start to finish across Vertiv's complete range of large Industrial Chiller units.
- Develop electrical, mechanical, and total system test scripts for commissioning programs.
- Execute L2, L3, and L4 commissioning tasks to the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Attend in person and Via MS Teams to oversee pre-customer testing, FWT/FAT/SAT activities.
- Coordinate with Service Operations and Project Management teams on scheduling of commissioning and start-up activities.
- Execute test scripts in conjunction with Projects and Service teams.
- Conduct facility walkthroughs and punch list reviews in conjunction with the Project Management team.
- Support enhanced design reviews and consult to the business as required.
Planning, Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit test results, reports, and documentation to customer expectations and within set timeframes.
- Provide daily commissioning status reports for internal stakeholders and customers.
- QA/QC of equipment installation, start-up, and testing.
- Proactively communicate project progress and any site issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide documentation confirming that equipment is installed, tested correctly, and set to function properly.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Be the face of Vertiv, build trusted relationships with customers through professional, solutions-focused interactions.
- Liaise with customer commissioning teams and agents as required.
- Engage with customers to ensure a positive experience, goals achievement, and schedule adherence.
- Coordinate with internal teams including Project Engineering, Service Operations, Sales Operations, and Vertiv factories.
Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with Project Engineering, Project Management, and Service Operations to constructively feedback areas of improvement using internal VOS (Vertiv Operating System) tools.
- Drive greater levels of professionalism around commissioning best practices.
- Mentor and develop graduates and junior engineers through knowledge sharing and on-site guidance.
- Expand expertise and knowledge in other Vertiv mech equipment including XDU's, FWU's & CRAC/CRAH product range for commissioning, testing and fault finding.
WHS, Environment & Quality
- Comply with all Work, Health & Safety, Environment, and Quality obligations.
- Actively champion a safety-first culture on all sites, leading by example and encouraging safe behaviours among colleagues and contractors.
- Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards promptly and effectively.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols when working on or around energised electrical equipment, live refrigerant lines, and pressure vessels.
Daily Work Expectations
- Travel to various sites across ANZ, including remote locations (valid Driver's Licence required).
- Undertake overnight or extended travel as project demands require.
- Work on and around energised electrical equipment, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Safely work on live refrigerant lines and pressure vessels in compliance with refrigerant handling regulations.
- Operate within HVAC mechanical systems, including working at heights and in confined or awkward positions as required.
- Undertake manual handling tasks following WHS guidelines.

Education & Qualifications
- BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, OR Mechanical Trade Certificate with Restricted Electrical Licence.
- Refrigerant Handling Licence (required).
- Work at Heights certification (current or willing to obtain).
Specialist Knowledge
- Extensive experience with large industrial chiller systems.
- Technical chiller knowledge across data centres, telecom, commercial & industrial environments.
- Ability to test dry contact alarms with thorough understanding of alarm and control integration.
- Understanding of BMS integration of 3rd party products through dry contacts and IP monitoring.
- Controls & networking knowledge.
Practical Experience
- 5+ years' experience in data centre or mission-critical facility commissioning.
- Proven track record within the Chiller Industry as a commissioning/service professional.
- Proven ability to work effectively under timeline constraints on large-scale sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
