In this role, you'll:
Lead and direct the team that manages Transport’s enterprise approach to ministerial and parliamentary correspondence for all portfolio Ministers. This includes leading the preparation of responses to high-level and sensitive issues from Members of Parliament, Mayors, Local Government Authorities, constituents and members of the public.
Proactively invest in building capability within the team, streamlining processes, improving quality and maintaining productive working relationships the Government and Parliamentary Services Branch and with client divisions across Transport.
Focus on relationship management and proactively engage with Transport’s Ministerial offices in relation to timely resolution of correspondence, developing strategies for contentious issues, and ensuring on-time performance and delivery.
Manage activities of the Ministerial Correspondence Unit to ensure effective management of incoming ministerial correspondence to Transport’s Portfolio Ministers as well as providing responses, answers and material for ministerial and parliamentary matters.
Ensure efficient and effective management and development of Ministerial Correspondence Unit staff and resources.
Provide leadership, advice, training, and guidance on Ministerial and Parliamentary correspondence, including requirements, standards, style of ministerial replies, briefing notes, and related matters.

About you
You are an experienced professional with the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and tact while juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You stay across government policies and strategies to ensure accuracy, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and make sure all Ministerial correspondence is delivered on time and to the highest standard.
You have extensive experience in:
understanding government and public administration, legislative, and Parliamentary processes and protocols, and the role of Ministers and agencies in Government.
delivering high level support services to Senior Executives and Ministers, preparing briefings, policy advice, ministerial correspondence, parliamentary products and related materials.
issues management in a high volume and contentious environment
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive experience in, and understanding of, government and public administration, legislative, Parliamentary processes and protocols, and the role of Minsters and agencies in Government.
