Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive System Administrator. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working across infrastructure, security, networking, and automation.
You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing a hybrid environment spanning Windows, Linux, virtualisation, networking, and enterprise monitoring platforms, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
You are a problem-solver with strong attention to detail and the ability to work across multiple domains. You enjoy troubleshooting complex issues and continuously improving systems and processes.
Core Duties:
- Design, manage, and support enterprise infrastructure across Active Directory, identity, and authentication services
- Administer Group Policy, endpoint management, and patching across systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure (Cisco, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
- Monitor, secure, and respond to incidents using Splunk, SIEM, and security best practices
- Design and support virtualisation environments (VMware ESXi/vCenter) including performance and recovery
- Manage physical infrastructure, including hardware, cabling, and power/cooling systems
- Oversee storage and backup solutions (SAN/NAS, RAID, Veeam or equivalent)
- Administer Linux (RHEL) environments, including AD integration and system hardening
- Develop automation and scripts using PowerShell and Bash
- Implement and maintain monitoring and observability platforms, including dashboards and root cause analysis
- Support and administer Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
About YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong experience across Windows Server, AD, and Group Policy
- Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux environments, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux expertise considered highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience with Linux system hardening, patching, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
- Solid networking knowledge with Cisco technologies
- Hands-on experience with VMware environments
- Proven experience with Splunk or SIEM platforms
- Exposure to Atlassian ecosystem
- Exposure to hybrid cloud or Azure-hosted Linux workloads is desirable
- Experience working within Defence or highly regulated security environments is advantageous
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain NV2 Defence Security Clearance
- Eligibility to comply with International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations
