Your role:
Using a team approach, the Strengthening Families Practitioner will;
- Provide an in-home family casework service, working in partnership with families to achieve their goals, aimed enhancing child/children’s development and family functioning.
- Take steps to reduce risks to children’s safety and wellbeing and other family members.
- Work with families to empower them to manage their life situation and to take charge of their lives, including a positive engagement with their community
- Work collaboratively with Child Protection, other professionals and families’ broader social networks to ensure a coordinated support package is in place.
About you:
NB: We can offer support and training in these areas to new graduates
- Experience or knowledge of Best Interest Principles as outlined within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
- Strengthening Family Services aims to support parents to ensure the social, emotional, educational, health and developmental needs for their children are met
- A good understanding of the social context of child abuse and neglect and experience in applying relevant theoretical approaches to deliver outcomes.
- Experience in active engagement of vulnerable children, youth and families and delivering a range of interventions to improve their outcomes
- Experience in conducting risk and needs assessments, and developing and implementing action plans
- Skills in case management, including developing community linkages
- A commitment to working with vulnerable children young people and families who have experienced trauma
Qualifications:
A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work or related discipline at degree level or diploma level with experience relevant to child welfare
New graduates will need relevant placement experience
The important stuff:
- Salary starts at $105,557 plus super plus salary packaging (Level 5 SCHADS) at full time.
- Part time, 3 days week one and 4 days week two, 0.7 FTE - ongoing.
- Pro rata the above amount in line with 53.2 hour fortnight.
