About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, renovating, and repairing a variety of structures and fixtures using timber, plywood, lightweight steel, wallboard, and other materials. This role requires the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, work with precision, and ensure all projects are completed to a high standard of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine material requirements, dimensions, and installation methods.
- Select, order, and prepare timber and other building materials for projects.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install timber and other materials according to project specifications.
- Construct and erect frameworks, panelised systems, roof framing, sub-flooring, and floorboards.
- Verify the accuracy and alignment of structures to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards.
- Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior wall cladding, door frames, and window frames.
- Assemble prefabricated timber components and fittings ready for installation.
- Cut and fit wood joints and other structural components with precision.
- Perform renovation, maintenance, and repair work on existing structures and fittings.
- Construct concrete formwork when required.
- Work with a range of materials, including timber, plastic laminates, Perspex, metals, and related products.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to workplace health and safety requirements.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- AQF Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification, including relevant on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in a related field.
- Proven experience in residential, commercial, or industrial carpentry projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience in framework construction, roofing, flooring, cladding, and fitting installation.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent measuring and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Valid construction industry certifications and driver's license (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification.
- Relevant industry experience in carpentry and joinery.
- Demonstrated ability to complete construction and installation work to a high standard.
