Your New Role:
Kempsey Shire Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Building Surveyor to join our Development and Compliance team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our shire while working across a diverse range of development and certification projects.
In this role, you will assess and determine building certification applications, undertake inspections, provide technical advice, and support Council’s regulatory responsibilities across building and development compliance matters.
As a Building Surveyor, you will:

Assess and determine construction certificates, complying development certificates, occupation certificates, building information certificates and related applications.

Undertake inspections relating to development and building matters.
-
Perform the functions and responsibilities of a Principal Certifier.

Assess development applications and applications under relevant legislation including the Local Government Act and Roads Act.

Assist Council in meeting obligations under the Swimming Pool Act and fire safety legislation.

Provide technical advice to staff, developers, builders and the public.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Minimum Diploma level qualification in Building Surveying or similar discipline is essential.

Registration with Building Commission NSW as an accredited building surveyor – restricted (class 1 and 10 buildings) is essential.

Registration with Building Commission NSW as an accredited building surveyor – unrestricted (all classes of buildings) is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of building certification legislation and the National Construction Code (NCC).

Experience assessing certification applications and undertaking inspections.

Excellent communication, negotiation and customer service skills.

Strong organisational and time management abilities.

Demonstrated computer skills including Greenlight (or similar), GIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Current General Construction Induction Card and Class C Driver Licence.
