Primary objective
Provide high level of efficient and effective advice and day to day delivery of executive services to the Principal, Business Manager,
Assistant Principals and school community. Duties include drafting and managing communications and reporting, providing administrative,
secretariat and financial services, undertaking ad hoc projects and managing information and records.
Context statement
Acacia Hill School, located in Alice Springs, is the only special school in Central Australia, and has an enrolment of approximately 100
students ranging from Preschool to Year 12. Approximately 80% of students need support with communication. The school’s highly
specialized learning and wellbeing programs cater for students with intellectual disability or multiple complex disabilities using the Early
Years Learning Framework and the developmental-based Victorian Curriculum, which directly articulates with the Australian Curriculum.
The school is committed to fostering learning without limits for every student.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Maintain administrative systems, registers, databases, and record management.
2. Undertake financial functions under the direction of the principal, in consultation with the business manager.
3. Co-ordinate the delivery of key school activities including community events and liaising with stakeholders.
4. Research and collate information to support project proposals, under the direction of the principal.
5. Undertake inductions for staff and visitors as required.
6. Provide support to front office/ reception and duties as required to ensure smooth school operations.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level of oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of staff, students and
the public from a range of cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
2. Demonstrated experience working in the delivery of secretariat, administration, finance, information management and office
services.
3. Demonstrated working knowledge in the use of computer systems currently used in schools including databases and financial data
entry.
4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work independently and to manage projects and meet conflicting timelines.
5. Demonstrated performance in a discreet and confidential manner in the workplace.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act and Regulations; Financial Management Act and Regulations;
Procurement Act and Regulations or ability to gain in a timely manner.

A current Working with Children Clearance Notice and Senior First Aid certificate or equivalent are required for this position.
