Position Title
Casual Trade Show Sales & Operations Assistant
Employment Type
Casual
Location
Punchbowl, NSW, with travel to trade shows, expos, and events across Australia as required
Business
SPC Enterprises Pty Ltd, including Perception Lighting and 12 Volt Direct
About the Business
SPC Enterprises is an importer and distributor of products for the 4WD, caravan, camping, automotive, and outdoor lifestyle industries.
Our brands include Perception Lighting and 12 Volt Direct, supplying products such as driving lights, 12V accessories, lithium batteries, solar panels, inverters, camping appliances, caravan accessories, wiring products, and automotive electrical gear.
We supply retail, wholesale, trade, caravan, camping, 4WD, and automotive customers across Australia.
We also attend a number of trade shows, caravan shows, camping expos, and 4WD events throughout the year in various locations nationally. These events are an important part of our business, where we showcase products, demonstrate how they work, answer customer questions, and generate sales.
About the Role
We are looking for a casual team member to assist primarily with trade show sales, customer support, and product demonstrations, with some additional support across warehouse and general business operations.
This role would suit someone who has a genuine interest in the 4WD, caravan, camping, touring, outdoor, or automotive industries.
This is not just a pick-and-pack warehouse role.
While warehouse work will form part of the position, the main focus is finding someone who is interested in our products, willing to learn how they work, and confident enough to speak with customers at trade shows and events.
A key part of this role is trade show work. You will need to be available to travel with the team to various trade shows, caravan shows, camping expos, and 4WD events across Australia. This may include interstate travel, weekend work, early starts, late finishes, setup days, pack down days, and staying away from home during event periods.
We receive a lot of applications from people with general warehouse experience, but this role requires someone who can build product knowledge, communicate with customers, and represent our brands professionally.
The ideal person will enjoy talking to people, learning about 12V and outdoor products, helping customers choose the right gear, travelling to events, and being part of a small but growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Show Sales and Customer Support
Travel with the team to trade shows, caravan shows, camping expos, 4WD events, and other customer-facing events across Australia.
Assist with trade show setup, pack down, sales, product demonstrations, and customer service.
Speak with customers about our product range and help them choose products that suit their vehicle, caravan, campsite, touring setup, or outdoor needs.
Learn and explain products across areas such as 12V power, lithium batteries, solar, driving lights, wiring, inverters, camping appliances, caravan accessories, and 4WD products.
Demonstrate products where required and answer general customer questions.
Assist with processing sales and customer enquiries during trade shows.
Represent the business and brands in a professional, approachable, and helpful manner.
Help maintain a clean, organised, and presentable trade show display.
Support the team during busy show periods, including weekends, setup days, pack down days, travel days, and longer event days.
Product Knowledge and Sales Support
Develop a strong understanding of our products, their features, applications, and differences.
Learn how customers use our products in real-world situations, including caravans, camper trailers, 4WDs, touring vehicles, work vehicles, boats, and off-grid power systems.
Assist customers with basic product selection and refer more technical enquiries to senior staff when required.
Support sales staff with customer enquiries, showroom support, and general product advice.
Provide feedback from customers and trade shows to help improve product information, displays, and sales material.
Stay interested and engaged in learning about new products, vehicle setups, camping trends, touring solutions, and customer needs within the industry.
Warehouse and Operations Support
Assist with general warehouse duties when required.
Pick and pack customer orders accurately.
Receive and check incoming stock.
Assist with unpacking, sorting, labelling, and putting away products.
Help keep the warehouse clean, organised, and safe.
Assist with preparing stock, displays, and equipment for trade shows.
Help load and unload trade show equipment, displays, and stock when required.
Help with stock counts, product testing, basic assembly, and general operational tasks as required.
Support other areas of the business during quiet periods or as needed.
Skills and Attributes Required
Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with customers.
A genuine interest in 4WDs, caravans, camping, touring, outdoor products, automotive accessories, or hands-on gear.
A willingness to learn about 12V products, electrical accessories, lighting, solar, lithium batteries, and caravan or camping products.
Availability and willingness to travel nationally with the team for trade shows and events.
Comfortable being away from home during trade show periods when required.
Able to work weekends, early starts, late finishes, and extended hours during events.
A positive attitude and willingness to get involved in different areas of the business.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
Comfortable working at trade shows, expos, and customer-facing events.
Good attention to detail.
Physically capable of assisting with trade show setup, pack down, loading, unloading, and general warehouse tasks.
A practical, hands-on attitude.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in sales, retail, customer service, trade shows, 4WD, camping, caravan, automotive, electrical, or warehouse work would be viewed favourably.
Product knowledge in 12V, automotive accessories, camping, caravans, solar, lithium batteries, driving lights, inverters, or 4WD products would be an advantage, but is not essential.
An interest in the industry and a willingness to learn are more important than already knowing every product.
This role could suit someone who enjoys working on their own 4WD, caravan, camping setup, car, boat, or outdoor gear and wants to turn that interest into a customer-facing role.
Hours of Work
This is a casual position.
Hours will vary depending on business requirements, trade shows, events, and warehouse workload.
Trade show work will often include weekends, interstate or regional travel, early starts, late finishes, setup days, event days, pack down days, and travel days.
You will need to be available to travel with the team to various trade show and event locations nationally as required.
Additional weekday hours may be available to assist with warehouse duties, product preparation, general operations, and training.
Reporting To
The role will report to the business owner, sales manager, or warehouse manager depending on the task being performed.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is more than just a warehouse worker.
The right person will have an interest in the 4WD, caravan, camping, automotive, or outdoor industries and be keen to learn more about the products we sell.
They will be able to talk to customers, help sell at trade shows, learn the product range, travel with the team to events across Australia, and also assist with warehouse and general operational tasks when needed.
This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on products, customer interaction, trade shows, travel, and learning about gear used in real-world touring, camping, caravan, and 4WD setups.
Key Success Measures
Ability to confidently speak with customers at trade shows.
Availability and reliability for trade show travel and event work.
Development of strong product knowledge over time.
Positive customer interactions and professional brand representation.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
Ability to assist across trade shows, warehouse, and general operations.
Accuracy and care when handling stock and customer orders.
Willingness to learn and take on feedback.
A genuine interest in the industry and the products we sell.
Pay: $33.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
