Role Description
The Sustainability Manager holds a crucial leadership position within the ESS team. This role entails aiding in the development and implementation of sustainability strategies and resource efficiency practices for our clients. Responsibilities include conducting National Australian Built Environment Ratings System (NABERS) Energy and Water Ratings for principal client sites and supervising the gathering, analysis, and management of energy, water, waste, and emissions data across diverse client accounts. The Sustainability Manager plays a key role in advancing sustainability initiatives and maintaining adherence to environmental standards and policies, especially in alignment with the Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy.
This role is full-time permanent role based in Canberra office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Energy Management and Emissions Reduction Plans for Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy compliance.
- Provide operational and strategic reporting to enhance sustainability and environmental performance.
- Liaise with energy retailers and assist Evolve FM facility management and procurement teams with the management of energy accounts.
- Manage Green Lease obligations including preparing energy performance reports, chairing building management committee meetings and preparing business cases to implement environmental initiatives.
- Monitor and report on sustainability and environmental performance including providing recommendations for energy, water and waste saving initiatives.
- Perform comprehensive data analysis to pinpoint trends and identify potential areas for cost savings and performance improvements.
- Compile comprehensive emissions data for Net Zero in Government Operations Strategy reporting.
- Proven ability to identify, scope, and implement sustainability projects and initiatives that contribute to reducing the environmental footprint of leased and owned properties.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency measures, renewable energy integration, and carbon reduction strategies to support the transition to Net Zero.
- Undertake NABERS ratings and BEEC’s for key client sites.
- Maintain strong client relationships, offering guidance on sustainability and environmental regulations.
- Highly flexible and adaptable in a changing and demanding environment.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key client representatives and internal stakeholders, acting as a primary point of contact for sustainability-related matters. Proactively understand client priorities, manage expectations, coordinate service delivery, resolve issues, and identify opportunities to enhance client outcomes and strengthen the overall account relationship.
Requirements
- Qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science or Related Field.
- Consulting, technical delivery or a client relationship management experience.
- Sound commercial experience with NABERS and BEEC Assessments.
- Extensive experience in the building services, facilities management, or property management sectors.
- Profound knowledge of technical building operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in data management, analysis and reporting.
- Accredited NABERS and CBD assessor (strongly preferred).
- Management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and/or client account management, including building and maintaining effective relationships with senior client representatives and key internal and external stakeholders
