What’s the role?
This is a 12-month secondment opportunity based in Sydney or Adelaide, offering the chance to play a key role in strengthening risk and compliance management practices across BT Financial Group ( Westpac’s wealth management division) .
As a Senior Manager in the Risk and Assurance team, you'll lead second line assurance reviews through independent testing of first line risk management practices and design and operating effectiveness of key controls. Review outcomes will serve to provide valuable insights into how risks are managed, controls are operating, and frameworks are embedded across the business.
Working closely with stakeholders across business teams, risk, compliance, and audit , you'll help identify opportunities for improvement and provide practical recommendations that support informed decision-making, positive customer outcomes and a proactive risk culture. You'll use data, analytics and emerging technologies to uncover meaningful insights and enhance assurance outcomes, while contributing to a strong and proactive risk culture.
This role offers a balance of strategic thinking, investigation, collaboration and influence, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, communicating clearly and helping teams to improve risk outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to shape assurance planning, deliver impactful reviews, and work alongside experienced professionals who are passionate about driving strong risk outcomes across the business.
What do I need?
We're looking for someone who can combine strong risk thinking with a collaborative approach and the ability to turn complex information into practical outcomes.
- Experience assessing risks, controls or compliance frameworks and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence positive outcomes.
- The ability to analyse information and data, identify themes and provide meaningful risk insights and identify practical actions.
- Confidence communicating complex issues in a clear, concise and engaging way for a range of audiences. Strong written communication skills.
- A growth mindset with an interest in continuous improvement, innovation and using data-led approaches to strengthen assurance practices.
Works independently with agility, adapting priorities as needed to meet key deliverables in a timely and coordinated manner
