Bathurst Health Service is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Staff Specialist Geriatrician to join our growing Aged Care and Older Persons Multidisciplinary Team. About the Role
As the Geriatrician, you will provide specialist clinical care and leadership for older patients experiencing frailty, cognitive impairment, complex comorbidities, functional decline, and other age-related syndromes.
You will work within a dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising:
- Clinical Nurse Consultant – Aged Care
- ASET Registered Nurse
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – Discharge Planner
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – AARCS
- Social Worker
Together, the team delivers comprehensive geriatric assessment, proactive intervention, discharge planning, and coordinated care that supports safe transitions from hospital to home or residential aged care.
This role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead and influence the development of geriatric services across Bathurst Health Service
- Deliver comprehensive geriatric assessment and specialist consultation
- Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case conferences
- Support patient-centred and family-inclusive care
- Mentor and educate medical, nursing, and allied health staff
- Drive quality improvement, service innovation, and clinical governance initiatives
- Contribute to improved patient outcomes, reduced length of stay, and enhanced patient flow
What We're Looking For
We are seeking a clinician who:
- Holds Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with specialist recognition in Geriatric Medicine
- Is eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Demonstrates excellence in the assessment and management of older people with complex needs
- Has a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to care
- Is committed to service development, quality improvement, and education
- Values innovation, leadership, and patient-centred care

5. Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
6. Fellowship of the applicable College.
