There are currently two (2) full time opportunities available: one (1) permanent Tactical Intelligence Analyst (SOCC) position, and one (1) temporary Tactical Intelligence Analyst (Generic) position. The temporary opportunity is offered as a three (3) month contract/secondment, with the possibility of extension.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Western Australia Police Force is seeking highly motivated candidates for two (2) full time Tactical Intelligence Analyst opportunities.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated tactical intelligence tradecraft skills, with the ability to work in a high-tempo operational environment. Strong relationship management and effective communication skills are essential, along with a proven ability to implement positive change, identify opportunities and drive a positive culture within a dynamic environment.
ROLE OF THE WORK UNIT
The WA Police Force is responsible for law enforcement, crime prevention, and emergency management across one of the world's largest and most diverse policing jurisdictions.
As part of the State Intelligence and Command Portfolio, Intelligence Services Division is responsible for providing information and intelligence within a dynamic policing environment to support the operational outcomes of the WA Police Force.
Tactical Intelligence Analysts provide intelligence support across a range of operational and investigative environments. This includes embedded support within investigative units, metropolitan and regional districts, specialist crime squads, and the State Operations Command Centre.
The State Operations Command Centre provides real-time tactical intelligence support to frontline operations by applying a range of intelligence capabilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
THE ROLE
Tactical Intelligence Analysts play a critical role in leading the development, quality and delivery of high-quality analytical and tactical intelligence capabilities that enhance and support operational outcomes for the WA Police Force.
The full time permanent Tactical Intelligence Analyst (SOCC) position operates within the State Operations Command Centre, providing real-time tactical intelligence support to frontline operations. The successful applicant for this role will be required to undertake shift work, including day and afternoon shifts, across a seven (7) day roster from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
The full time temporary Tactical Intelligence Analyst (Generic) position may be placed across a range of business areas, including metropolitan and regional districts or specialist crime squads, depending on operational priorities and organisational requirements.
Tactical Intelligence Analysts regularly contribute to field-based deployments and dynamic tactical intelligence functions, ensuring the WA Police Force remains a leader in delivering intelligence services within a policing environment.
To support operational priorities and enhance capability, Tactical Intelligence Analysts may be rotated across business areas as required.
LOCATION
The Tactical Intelligence Analyst (SOCC) position is based in Perth.
The Tactical Intelligence Analyst (Generic) position may be located according to operational requirements.
WORK PATTERN
The Tactical Intelligence Analyst (SOCC) position requires shift work, as per the relevant industrial agreement, across a seven (7) day roster.
The Tactical Intelligence Analyst (Generic) position will work in accordance with the relevant work pattern for the assigned business area.
SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE
It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to become an Australian Citizen prior to appointment.
It is also a requirement of this position that applicants undertake a psychological assessment to determine their suitability, and as an incumbent, agree to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required.
Applicants are required to have completed or complete the Intelligence Analysis course prior to or within six (6) months of appointment to the position.
Applicants are required to have completed or complete the Human Source Level two (2) course within twelve (12) months of appointment to the position.

Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV) of no more than five (5) pages. It is important to note that your CV should be tailored to clearly outline that you possess transferable skills and experience relevant to the advertised role. Your ability to demonstrate this will be a key factor in determining whether you are competitive.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work-Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
Applicants are also required to provide a statement totalling no more than two (2) pages addressing the following two questions:
1) Give an example of a time when you identified a gap in team performance, process, or operational practice. How did you respond, how did you influence others to adopt a different approach, and what was the result?
2)Provide an example of a time when you were required to manage multiple competing demands in a dynamic operational environment where priorities shifted unexpectedly. How did you determine your priorities, communicate your decisions, and support the delivery of the operational objective?
Throughout the selection and interview process the selection panel may require applicants to undertake further assessment to determine suitability.
At the first stage of the selection process, your suitability to progress will be assessed based on your responses to the above questions and the transferable skills outlined in your CV.
Each essential work-related requirement will be evaluated at least once throughout the process. The final suitable applicants will be determined based on ability to address the work-related requirements in a competitive manner, as well as transferable skills outlined in their resume.

OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
