Northfleet are a market leading company in the Bus & Vehicle Hire and Transport industry, supplying solutions to customers throughout Perth, Pilbara, Kalgoorlie and regional Western Australia. We pride ourselves on our fantastic team culture, teamwork and positive work environment.
Due to business growth, we are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager – Transport Lead safety, productivity and financial performance across our transport network
You will take operational oversight of our network of depots, workshops and transport operations. This is a network-wide leadership role for someone who can drive safety, lift fleet utilisation and productivity, and build consistent, high-performing operating standards across every site.
If you thrive on turning complex, multi-site operations into safe, efficient and profitable ones — and you know how to lead people, not just processes — we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
-
Champion a zero-harm safety culture — leading hazard identification, incident investigation and compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and fatigue management obligations.
- Monitor safety KPIs including LTIs, vehicle incidents, near misses, pre-start compliance, and corrective action close-out rates.
- Lift fleet utilisation, driver productivity and on-time delivery performance across all locations, driving out bottlenecks and inconsistency.
- Oversee network-wide transport scheduling and dispatch, balancing customer demand against fleet, driver and subcontractor capacity — including shutdown and project surge periods.
- Own compliance and audit readiness across HVNL, CoR, fatigue management, mine site standards and environmental obligations.
- Partner with workshop teams to maximise fleet reliability, reduce downtime and manage maintenance and asset replacement planning.
- Lead, coach and develop Operational Managers, Supervisors, Schedulers and Coordinators, building a strong performance and accountability culture.
- Maintain and grow key client relationships, ensuring contractual KPIs are met and supporting tenders, mobilisations and contract renewals.
- Drive adoption of telematics, dashboards and Power BI reporting to give real-time visibility of fleet, compliance and performance.
Support commercial teams with operational input for new tenders and contract renewals.
-
Ensure timely and accurate invoicing to optimise cash flow
What you'll bring
-
Proven experience leading multi-site transport, logistics or fleet operations, ideally within mining, industrial or heavy vehicle environments.
- Strong working knowledge of HVNL, CoR, fatigue management and mine site transport requirements.
- Demonstrated track record of lifting safety, utilisation and productivity outcomes across dispersed teams and sites.
- Strong people leadership — able to develop managers and supervisors and build a culture of ownership and accountability.
- Strong client-facing skills, with experience managing contract performance and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience in the use of data and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, telematics platforms) to drive operational decisions.
- Strong commercial acumen.
Why this role
This is a genuine network-level leadership opportunity — the chance to shape a standard operating model across multiple depots, influence major client relationships, and directly impact safety and performance outcomes at scale.
