ABOUT THE ROLE
Lead the operational engine behind Pickles' digital environment. In this hands-on leadership role, you will guide a team of Ops and Automation Engineers while driving reliable, scalable and secure outcomes across identity, endpoint, network and service management platforms. You will combine technical depth with practical team leadership, helping improve how work is prioritised, delivered and continuously uplifted across IT.
What you will be doing
- Lead, mentor and support a capable team of Ops and Automation Engineers.
- Coordinate team priorities across BAU, initiatives, escalations and service improvement work.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex operational issues and Major Incidents.
- Drive automation, standardisation and modern engineering practices that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
- Lead key operational functions such as CAB, Major Incident Management and service escalations.
- Provide technical oversight across identity, endpoint, network, monitoring, ITSM and automation platforms.
- Work closely with Service Operations, Service Desk, Security, Platforms, Architecture and business stakeholders to align priorities and delivery.
- Maintain strong governance, risk awareness and operational standards across team outputs.
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience in IT operations, platform engineering, automation or a similar enterprise technology environment.
- Experience leading technical teams, including coaching, workload coordination and performance oversight.
- Strong hands-on capability across platforms such as Entra ID, Active Directory, Okta, Intune, Automox, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Meraki, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, Jira and Confluence.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and API integration skills, with experience guiding others in automation practices.
- Experience operating in ITIL-aligned environments, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Major Incident and CAB processes.
- A practical, outcome-focused leadership style with strong communication, prioritisation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confidence representing the team in broader IT forums, vendor discussions and operational decision-making.
