We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team at our hospitality venue in Coolum Beach, Queensland.
Our venue operates a diverse food program and regularly hosts international themed food events and special menu nights. These events are an established part of our food offering and feature dishes inspired by cuisines from around the world.
As part of this role, the Cook will be directly involved in preparing and delivering menus for our regular themed events. For this reason, we are specifically seeking a Cook with demonstrated knowledge and practical cooking experience across Brazilian, Argentine, Czech, Filipino and South African cuisines.
Experience with these cuisines is important to the role because our themed events require the preparation of dishes using the traditional ingredients, cooking methods, flavour profiles and presentation styles associated with each cuisine. The successful applicant must be able to reproduce these dishes consistently in a commercial kitchen environment and assist with the development and execution of themed menus.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for the venue's regular food service
- Prepare authentic and appropriately styled dishes for our international themed events
- Prepare Brazilian, Argentine, Czech, Filipino and South African dishes using appropriate ingredients, techniques and flavour profiles
- Assist with planning and developing menus for themed events and special food offerings
- Prepare ingredients and undertake daily food preparation
- Follow recipes and maintain consistency in flavour, portion size, quality and presentation
- Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service
- Coordinate food preparation to meet service and event requirements
- Maintain appropriate food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Assist with stock management, ordering, storage and minimising food wastage
- Work effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff during regular service and special events
Skills and experience
Applicants should have:
- A relevant commercial cookery qualification or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
- Demonstrated practical experience preparing dishes from Brazilian, Argentine, Czech, Filipino and South African cuisines
- Knowledge of the traditional ingredients, preparation methods and flavour profiles associated with these cuisines
- Experience working with changing menus, special events or themed food offerings
- Sound commercial food preparation and cooking skills
- Good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
- Ability to maintain quality and consistency during busy service periods
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Reliability and availability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and themed events as required

Pay: $55,000.00 – $79,500.00 per year
