Our client, Northern Beaches Council, is seeking a temporary Stores and Plant Operator to support the Transport and Civil Infrastructure Department on a 4-month contract commencing in June.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and safety-conscious Plant Operator / Stores Officer to join their Civil Works team. This hands-on role combines plant operation, stores management, and civil maintenance activities to support the delivery of essential infrastructure and community services. About the Role
Reporting to the Civil Works Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating plant and equipment, supporting civil maintenance activities, and managing stores operations to ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are available to operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate plant and equipment including front-end loaders, backhoes, forklifts, and other civil construction machinery.
- Perform excavation, loading, earthmoving, and site preparation activities.
- Receive, inspect, store, and issue materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain inventory records and assist with stock control activities.
- Conduct stocktakes and ensure stores are organised, secure, and well maintained.
- Load and unload vehicles using forklifts and other equipment.
- Conduct pre-start inspections and routine maintenance checks on plant and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records, work orders, inventory documentation, and plant logs.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and operational teams to ensure resources are available when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience operating civil construction plant and equipment.
- Previous stores, warehouse, inventory, or logistics experience.
- Sound understanding of stock control and inventory management processes.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable work ethic and a positive attitude.

- Forklift Licence
