About the role
Poets Cafe is looking for a reliable, passionate chef/cook to join our kitchen team. We're a warm, community loved cafe and we take pride in the food we put on the plate. If you love a consistent daytime shift, hate split shifts as much as we do, and know your way around a busy cafe kitchen, we'd love to hear from you.
Your roster
This is a casual position that will include weekend shifts and some nights- averaging 4 days per week, as we do weddings throughout the year there are occasional evening shifts for wedding events, these are scheduled well in advance.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and plating cafe-style dishes to a consistent, high standard
- Working the line during busy breakfast, brunch and lunch service
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen at all times
- Food prep and Menu planning, ordering
- Supporting the team during occasional weekend wedding events
What we're looking for
- Previous experience in a busy cafe or restaurant kitchen with breakfast experience a must
- Understanding food safety standards
- Demonstrated experience with menu prep, ordering, menu planning, and daily kitchen operations, setup and pack down.
- Solid knife skills and a good understanding of cafe-style cooking
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak breakfast and lunch service
- A team player with a positive attitude and strong communication with strong work ethic
- Current Food Safety certificate
- Flexibility for the occasional Saturday evening wedding shift

Pay: $56,806.12 – $80,000.00 per year
