Narangba Valley State High School is a high-performing secondary school in Moreton Bay, catering for students in Years 7-12. About the Role
The successful applicant will work closely with students who may be disengaged from learning and require additional behavioural and academic support. The role focuses on helping students develop the skills, confidence, and strategies needed to re-engage positively with their education.
Key Responsibilities
Support students to complete independent learning programs, targeted intervention activities, classwork, and assessment tasks
Build positive and professional relationships with students through consistent encouragement and support
Assist students to reflect on their choices and develop strategies for growth and improvement
Apply Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) strategies and restorative practices when supporting students
Supervise and support students within the Behaviour Support Unit environment
Safely escort students to and from breaks or other required locations when necessary
Assist with Behaviour Support Unit administration, including:
managing student bookings
monitoring attendance
tracking student progress and engagement
maintaining accurate records and communication
Collaborate effectively with teachers, support staff, and leadership to support student outcomes
Experience or passion for working with students in restorative programs is highly valued.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
A genuine interest in supporting young people, particularly students who may be disengaged or experiencing behavioural challenges
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with students
Patience, resilience, and a calm, proactive approach
Experience using positive behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
Strong organisational and administrative skills
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A commitment to maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
