About the Role
This Ability Care is seeking 2–3 experienced Male Disability Support Workers to join our team and provide person-centred support to an autistic, non-verbal male participant living in Mitcham, SA.
You will work as part of a 2:1 support team, alongside another experienced support worker, delivering consistent, high-quality support while promoting the participant's independence, safety, and quality of life.
This is a rewarding opportunity for support workers who have experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex behaviours.
Shifts Available
- 09:00 AM – 3:00 PM (with the possibility of extending until 5:00 PM)
- Services operate 7 days per week
- Ongoing, regular shifts available for the right candidates
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in line with the participant's goals and support plans.
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and follow Behaviour Support Plans.
- Support community participation and meaningful activities.
- Maintain accurate case notes and incident reporting.
- Work collaboratively with another support worker, family members, and the wider support team.
- Promote the participant's dignity, choice, and independence while ensuring safety at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Experience supporting people with complex behaviours and implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current DHS Working With Children Check.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
- Reliable, fully insured vehicle.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
