Your Opportunity
Working within the Child, Youth & Family directorate, you'll be the welcoming and knowledgeable first point of contact for people engaging with the Post Adoption Resource Centre (PARC).
You'll support clients by gathering information about their needs, helping them understand available services and pathways, facilitating referrals, and maintaining contact during periods of waiting or transition. This role requires empathy, professionalism and sound judgement as you support people navigating grief, loss, identity, family connections and other complex life experiences.
You will work closely with counsellors, team leaders and external stakeholders to ensure clients receive timely, respectful and coordinated support.
How You Will Contribute

Be the first point of contact for people seeking support from PARC.

Build trust and rapport through compassionate, trauma-informed conversations.

Complete intake and screening activities to understand client needs and appropriate service pathways.

Provide practical information, advocacy, referrals and service navigation support.

Maintain contact with clients while they are waiting for services or specialist support.

Work collaboratively with counsellors, team leaders and service providers to achieve positive outcomes.

Maintain accurate client records and documentation using client management systems.

Contribute to service improvement initiatives and a positive team culture.

Support people to feel heard, respected and empowered in their next steps.

Your Skills and Experience
We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you'll have:

A Certificate IV, Diploma or equivalent experience in community services, social services, human services or a related field.

Experience working with vulnerable individuals, families or communities.
- Experience in intake, support work, client services, service navigation, community services or administration.
- The ability to build rapport quickly and communicate with warmth, empathy and professionalism.
- Strong listening and information-gathering skills, with the confidence to ask sensitive questions respectfully.
- The ability to identify and appropriately escalate risk, safety or wellbeing concerns.
- Excellent documentation and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- A collaborative approach and ability to manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice, privacy, confidentiality and culturally responsive service delivery.
